So maybe you’re wondering why I’ve hijacked things here at Roomenvy? Well I  wanted to share with you (and hopefully get some advice) on a dilemma I am having  – my kitchen worktops.

Over the past year I have been doing up my Victorian terraced house. For the most part, it has been an amazing experience – the bathroom was a triumph (if I do say so myself), the yard/patio/dumping ground out back has been transformed into a small, but beautiful garden and the overall house has been given a revamp with lots of hard work and plenty of fresh paint! However, my kitchen is still not quite there yet…

The problem I’m having folks is that I just can’t quite decide on what worktop to go for. I’m torn between a gorgeous industrial-style concrete and a high-end veined marble. Friends keep telling me that both options are too high maintenance (marble stains and concrete can chip), but I don’t care, in my opinion, they both look beautiful.

I decided to use our shiny new website, theROOMedit (if you haven’t already visited, go and check it out) to kick me out of my paralysis…

Ok, but now, after browsing all the inspirational images, things are getting rather more complicated. Look at this beautiful kitchen with marble worktop and splashback (yes, I could have a splashback!).

A marble worktop and splashback will make things considerably more expensive. Plus it seems like a bit of an extravagance considering my kitchen is one of the smallest rooms in the house….

On the other hand this concrete worktop looks AMAZING in this country kitchen space. I love how it gives the room an industrial edge.
