Monochrome is a timeless interior colour scheme that doesn't necessarily have to be tied to modern, contemporary homes.

A black and white colour scheme is  a tasteful and elegant choice for modern properties. But it can be difficult to transfer it across to traditional interiors. However, this country-style kitchen proves it can be done successfully with a few clever styling tricks.

By using a selection of cream, ivory and taupe hues instead of a bright white, the space feels warm and welcoming, which is enhanced even more by the oak wood furnishings. Simple accessories and the odd piece of furniture in an understated matt black add a shot of sophistication and a few copper pots and pans finish off the look perfectly. I’m in awe!
