What is National Tile Week?

During National Tile Week we’ve been talking about tiles and the benefits of ceramic tiles within the home. Forget plain white and beige tiles, ceramic tiles are now pushing the boundaries of design with a whole range of different looks available thanks to modern advancements in high definition inkjet technology. But what is it, and what does HD mean to you and your home? Many of you will be familiar with HD televisions and the picture quality, well the same can be said for tiles now available in high definition.

HD – What is it?

A cutting-edge printing technique that enables almost any design to be transferred to a ceramic tile. Using the very latest in inkjet technology, British Ceramic Tile’s high definition (HD) collection has been designed to replicate nature and imitate the appearance of real stone, wood and marble. The quality and accuracy of the print is of such a high standard that is it virtually impossible to distinguish the ceramic tiles from the real thing.

So what does this mean for you?

Being able to print such effects onto a hardwearing, easy to install and cost effective ceramic tile means that you can now accomplish the look and feel of natural materials in your own home without any special maintenance or expensive installation costs. Ceramic tiles are easy to install, clean and are incredibly well suited to busy living areas like the kitchen, bathroom and living areas, plus they work well with under floor heating.

How to style?

If you love the look of wood for your bathroom floor but are worried about the effects of moisture and humidity, this is where HD comes in, allowing you to recreate the natural look of wood without the need for any special sealing or maintenance. The HD rustic wood effect tile captures the look of a more traditional wooden floor for a shabby chic look that will last for years to come.

Urban inspired interiors are one of 2016’s biggest trends, with cool concrete floors leading the way. HD tiles allow you to tap into the trend for industrial design influences without the need for a professional to lay and seal the tiles. Mix the cool urban edge of concrete with sleek lines of coloured glass for a splash of colour on walls and floors.

Stone effect ceramic tiles will help you to create a luxe look for less. Don’t be constrained to the kitchen or bedroom, use marble in the bedroom or living room to add impact. Why not tile a feature wall behind your bed for an opulent wall covering or combine stone-effect tiles with glass to juxtapose the different materials.

HD printing technology isn’t just for recreating natural effects, it can create any pattern and has been used in our Feature Floor range to bring striking patterns to life that tap into the latest trend for floors with a wow factor. Offering a broad range of styles from tradition Victorian patterns through to classic parquet, the collection offers a wide range of designs for those wanting to add a subtle element of design or make a splash with bold patterns and colours.

With HD, the opportunities are endless!
