Weathered Steel Home Takes the Industrial Trend to New Levels

At British Ceramic Tile, we’re all about trends, our design led approach ensures that our products are always on the cutting edge of what’s fashionable in interior design. One trend that we’ve seen rise over recent years is the industrial aesthetic, and we absolutely love it! There’s even a section on it in our 2016 Trend Edit.

This home, located in Massachusetts in the states, really embodies the whole industrial movement. Designed by MERGE architects, the exterior is clad with weathered steel from top to bottom, creating a very authentic, striking visualisation. The colour of the steel is intended to match the bark of the surrounding trees and cause minimal disruption to the surrounding views.

The house itself is the very essence of green living. The homeowners enjoy spending time maintaining the variety of Japanese maple trees that surround the property. Each room in the home is paired with a small garden, including an open top courtyard garden in the centre of the property containing a Himalayan birch tree.

Of course, a house with this level of industrial style isn’t within reach for everybody, but there are ways you can incorporate elements of it into your home. The aim is to create a stripped back, effortless style. Think exposed brickwork, a look that can be achieved with our Paragon HD range of tiles or industrial metals or natural stones such as our Slate HD tiles. Industrial metals such as steel and copper also work great for this look, especially combined with unfinished woods.
