Bathroom Makeover

Kim & Rob, Bedfordshire

The bathroom flowed off of the kitchen with a slanted roof and cubby toilet which meant it was dark and snug. We decided to move the bathroom upstairs to the back bedroom where most of the daylight pours in. We wanted a subtle yet classic patterned tile that would be in keeping with the house whilst giving the bathroom a statement and timeless, but updated, Victorian feel.

The 'Mr Jones Charcoal' floor tile by Laura Ashley's Heritage Collection worked perfectly with our white Victorian suite. We actually didn't need to order anymore samples, our decision was made. We kept the roll top bath and salvaged a Victorian sink and toilet from a house renovation in Clapham. We used a light grey metro tile for the shower enclosure and sink splash back, and then a grey patterned Batik tile for the shower enclosure; the two patterns work so well together. We've customised the bathroom with a Victorian clothes airer, bevelled mirror and over the roll bath board picked up from a car boot sale.
